DESCRIPTION OF MARJORAM ORGANIC
An herb of the Origanum family, Thymus mastichina is commonly known as Wild Marjoram, Spanish Marjoram and Mastic Thyme, and in the Iberian peninsula, enjoyed popularity as a common medicinal herb. A few drops can be put in a vaporizer before bed, and a few drops can be added to a hot bath at the first signs of a cold. It is used in masculine, oriental, and herbal-spicy blends for perfumes and colognes.
The health benefits of Marjoram Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an analgesic, antispasmodic, anaphrodisiac, antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, cephalic, cordial, diaphoretic, digestive, diuretic, emenagogue, expectorant, fungicidal, hypotensive, laxative, nervine, sedative, stomachic, vasodilator and vulnerary substance.
This essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of both fresh and dried leaves of the marjoram plant, also known as Knotted Marjoram, which has the scientific name Origanum Marjorana. The main components of marjoram oil are Sabinene, Alpha Terpinene, Gamma Terpinene, Cymene, Terpinolene, Linalool, Sabinene Hydrate, Linalyl Acetate, Terpineol and Gamma Terpineol. This is a plant of the Mediterranean region that has been well known and respected for its medicinal uses for many years.
AROMATIC SUMMARY / NOTE / STRENGTH OF AROMA: A middle note with a medium aroma, it has a warm and spicy aroma, with a note like nutmeg.
CAUTIONS: Dilute before use; for external use only. Do not use on young children, and it may cause skin irritation in some individuals; a skin test is recommended prior to use. Contact with eyes should be avoided. It has no inherent risks, but as with many alternative medicines and aromatherapy techniques. Pregnant women should avoid it.
SHELF LIFE:12 months or longer under proper storage conditions.
